Suicides increase in Croatia

In 2014 occurred 726 suicides in Croatia. This year, 29 more people committed suicide than in 2013. In Croatia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Croatia had 17.04 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.71 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 726 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 538 were men suicides and 188 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 26.22 per 100,000 men and for women 8.49 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Croatia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 36 homicides in Croatia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 20.2 suicides.
