Suicides fell in Costa Rica

By 2014, suicides in Costa Rica increased by 44 people to at 268 suicides

In Costa Rica there were 5.6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.71 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 268 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 223 were men suicides and 45 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.3 per 100,000 men and for women 1.9 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Costa Rica. However, in Costa Rica in 2014 there were there were 477 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.8 homicides per suicide.
