Costa Rica - Intentional self-harm

In 1962 occurred 30 suicides in Costa Rica. This year, 3 fewer people committed suicide than in 1961.

Costa Rica had 2.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 11.28 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Costa Rica has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 30 recorded suicide cases in 1962, 25 were men suicides and 5 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 3.7 per 100,000 men and for women 0.7 per 100,000 female.
