Chile has a low suicide rate

In 1964 occurred 249 suicides in Chile. This year, 41 fewer people committed suicide than in 1963.

Chile had 2.9 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 11.15 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Chile has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 249 recorded suicide cases in 1964, 197 were men suicides and 52 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 4.7 per 100,000 men and for women 1.2 per 100,000 female.
