In 2014 around 2,743 suicides occurred in Cameroon, 71 more than in 2013. In 2014, on average 8 Cameroonians committed suicide every day.

Cameroon reported 12.09 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.71 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 2,743 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 2,105 were men suicides and 638 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 18.96 per 100,000 men and for women 5.7 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cameroon suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 212 homicides in Cameroon, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 12.9 suicides.
