Number of suicides increases in Cabo Verde

In 2006 around 39 suicides occurred in Cabo Verde, 1 more than in 2005.

Cabo Verde reported 8.12 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.12 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 39 recorded suicide cases in 2006, 26 were men suicides and 13 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.39 per 100,000 men and for women 5.34 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cabo Verde suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 35 homicides in Cabo Verde, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.1 suicides.
