Belize had 5.57 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.12 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 16 recorded suicide cases in 2006, 15 were men suicides and 2 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.11 per 100,000 men and for women 1.08 per 100,000 female.
Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Belize. However, in Belize in 2006 there were there were 92 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 5.8 homicides per suicide.
