In August, vehicle registrations in Canada grew by 17.48% with respect to August of 1972. In total, 85,560 cars were registered and 1,210,357 new cars were sold in the last twelve months, 16.58% more than the year before.
The breakdown of car sales figures for the month of August is:
- Commercial vehicles sold: 18,617, 22.7% more than in August of 1972.
- Passenger cars regitrations: 66,943, which represents a figure of 16.11% more than in August of 1972.

As can be seen, the number of registrations per thousand residents has grown in the last year. The increase in this figure is positive, as it generally indicates improved public confidence in the country's economy.
