In September, vehicle registrations in Canada fell by 18.99% with respect to September of 1961. In total, 23,416 cars were registered and 564,528 new cars were sold in the last twelve months, 11.33% more than the year before.
The breakdown of car sales figures for the month of September is:
- Commercial vehicles sold: 4,068, 23.99% less than in September of 1961.
- Passenger cars regitrations: 19,348, which represents a figure of 17.85% less than in September of 1961.

As can be seen, the number of registrations per thousand residents has fallen in the last year. A drop in registrations generally indicates a fall in consumer confidence and, when it is sustained, a recession in the real economy.
