In July, vehicle registrations in Canada fell by 7.86% with respect to July of 1959. In total, 39,373 cars were registered and 507,324 new cars were sold in the last twelve months, 3.36% more than the year before.
The breakdown of car sales figures for the month of July is:
- Commercial vehicles sold: 5,453, 13.04% less than in July of 1959.
- Passenger cars regitrations: 33,920, which represents a figure of 6.97% less than in July of 1959.

With annual sales of 28.79 cars per 1,000 residents, 2.23 of them in the last month, Canada, occupies pole position, which tells us that its population enjoys a high standard of living.
As can be seen, the number of registrations per thousand residents has fallen in the last year. A drop in registrations generally indicates a fall in consumer confidence and, when it is sustained, a recession in the real economy.
