In May, vehicle registrations in Belgium grew by 18.75% with respect to May of 2005. In total, 57,306 cars were registered and 594,274 new cars were sold in the last twelve months, 8.71% more than the year before.
The breakdown of car sales figures for the month of May is:
- Commercial vehicles sold: 6,605, 4.77% less than in May of 2005.
- Passenger cars regitrations: 50,701, which represents a figure of 22.7% more than in May of 2005.

With annual sales of 56.54 cars per 1,000 residents, 5.45 of them in the last month, Belgium, occupies 6th place, so, compared to the other countries in the ranking, its population has a good standard of living.
As can be seen, the number of registrations per thousand residents has grown in the last year. The increase in this figure is positive, as it generally indicates improved public confidence in the country's economy.
