The Greek government cut spending in an attempt to reduce the debt. Contrary to what is being said, public spending in Greece has been reduced in recent years. Per capita spending in 2009 was 11,151 euros (15,983$), a figure that saw a reduction of 28% to 8,039 euros (10,680$) per resident in 2014.
