The national minimum wage increase in Brazil

In 2018, the national minimum wage in Brazil remained fixed at €240.1 per month, that is 2,881 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in Brazilian reals, which is the official currency in Brazil, we can see that, this year, it was 954 Brazilian reals and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 17 Brazilian reals per month from the previous year, 1.81%. This increase is less than the CPI of 2017 which was 2.1%,and so workers, despite the raise, have lost buying power in the last year.

If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, Brazil is in 63 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 115 of the list.
