Public debt went up in Tuvalu

In 2017 Tuvalu public debt was 5 million euros5 million dollars, has increased 11 million since 2016.

This amount means that the debt in 2017 reached 12.05% of Tuvalu GDP, a 0.56 percentage point rise from 2016, when it was 11.49% of GDP.

If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Tuvalu debt. It has gone down since 2007 in global debt terms, when it was 7 million euros 9 million dollars , and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 32.98%.

According to the last data point published, Tuvalu per capita debt in 2017 was 430 euros485 dollars per inhabitant. In 2016 it was 361 euros 399 dollars, afterwards rising by 69 euros86 dollars, and if we again check 2007 we can see that then the debt per person was 685 euros938 dollars .

The position of Tuvalu, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2017 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 7 in the list of debt to GDP and 35 in debt per capita, out of the 191 we publish.
