CO2 emissions in 2016 were 1.027 megatons, making Sierra Leone is in the group of low-polluting countries, within the ranking of countries for CO2 emissions, made up of 184 countries, in which the countries are ranked from least to most pollutant.
In addition to its total emissions of CO2 into the atmospher, which logically depend, among other variables, on the country's population, it is convenient to analyze the behavior of its emissions per inhabitant. In the table we see that per capita CO2 emissions in Sierra Leone, have not changed in 2016, in which they have been 0.14 tons per inhabitant.
Sierra Leone is one of the countries with the lowest CO2 emissions per inhabitant.
Finally, it is interesting to observe the behavior f CO2 emissions per 1000 dollars of GDP, which measures, for the same country, the "environmental efficiency" with which it is produced over time. In the last period, Sierra Leone, has emitted 0.09 kilos for every $ 1,000 of GDP, the same as in 2015.
