There are 5 suicides per day in Uganda

In 2003 occurred 1,805 suicides in Uganda. This year, 26 more people committed suicide than in 2002. In 2003, on average 5 Ugandans committed suicide every day.

Uganda had 7.49 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.69 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,805 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 1,280 were men suicides and 525 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.92 per 100,000 men and for women 3.91 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Uganda. However, in Uganda in 2003 there were there were 2,136 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.2 homicides per suicide.
