By 2002, suicides in Uganda increased by 23 people to at 1,779 suicides In 2002, on average 5 Ugandans committed suicide every day.

In Uganda there were 7.64 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.78 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,779 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 1,254 were men suicides and 525 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.02 per 100,000 men and for women 4.03 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Uganda. However, in Uganda in 2002 there were there were 1,919 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.1 homicides per suicide.
