Suicides decreased in Turkmenistan

In 2014 around 533 suicides occurred in Turkmenistan, 34 less than in 2013. In Turkmenistan, on average, at least one suicide happens every year.

Turkmenistan reported 9.41 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.71 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 533 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 396 were men suicides and 137 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 14.15 per 100,000 men and for women 4.77 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Turkmenistan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 89 homicides in Turkmenistan, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 6 suicides.
