Suicides decreased in Trinidad and Tobago

In 2002 around 163 suicides occurred in Trinidad and Tobago, 9 less than in 2001.

Trinidad and Tobago reported 12.79 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.78 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 163 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 136 were men suicides and 27 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 20.41 per 100,000 men and for women 4.02 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Trinidad and Tobago. However, in Trinidad and Tobago in 2002 there were there were 171 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1 homicides per suicide.
