Suicides increase in Tajikistan

In 2004 occurred 260 suicides in Tajikistan. This year, 12 more people committed suicide than in 2003.

Tajikistan had 3.87 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.53 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 260 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 202 were men suicides and 58 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.02 per 100,000 men and for women 1.67 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Tajikistan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 142 homicides in Tajikistan, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.8 suicides.
