Switzerland has a very high suicide rate

In 1980 around 1,621 suicides occurred in Switzerland, 61 more than in 1979. In 1980, on average 4 Swiss committed suicide every day.

Switzerland reported 25.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 14.29 suicides per 100,000 people.

Switzerland has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,621 recorded suicide cases in 1980, 1,128 were men suicides and 493 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 36.7 per 100,000 men and for women 15.2 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
