In Switzerland there were 24.8 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 13.17 suicides per 100,000 people.

Switzerland has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,560 recorded suicide cases in 1979, 1,060 were men suicides and 500 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 34.6 per 100,000 men and for women 15.5 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
