Switzerland has a very high suicide rate

In 1978 around 1,515 suicides occurred in Switzerland, 10 more than in 1977. In 1978, on average 4 Swiss committed suicide every day.

Switzerland reported 24.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 12.98 suicides per 100,000 people.

Switzerland has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,515 recorded suicide cases in 1978, 1,052 were men suicides and 463 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 34.4 per 100,000 men and for women 14.4 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
