Switzerland has a very high suicide rate

In 1977 occurred 1,505 suicides in Switzerland. This year, 108 more people committed suicide than in 1976. In 1977, on average 4 Swiss committed suicide every day.

Switzerland had 24 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 12.83 suicides per 100,000 people.

Switzerland has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,505 recorded suicide cases in 1977, 1,044 were men suicides and 461 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 34.1 per 100,000 men and for women 14.3 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
