Sweden has a very high suicide rate

In 1977 occurred 1,626 suicides in Sweden. This year, 68 more people committed suicide than in 1976. In 1977, on average 4 Swedes committed suicide every day.

Sweden had 19.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 12.83 suicides per 100,000 people.

Sweden has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,626 recorded suicide cases in 1977, 1,159 were men suicides and 467 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 28.3 per 100,000 men and for women 11.2 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
