Spain has a low suicide rate

In 1980 around 1,652 suicides occurred in Spain, 119 more than in 1979. In 1980, on average 5 Spaniards committed suicide every day.

Spain reported 4.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 14.29 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Spain has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,652 recorded suicide cases in 1980, 1,237 were men suicides and 415 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.7 per 100,000 men and for women 2.2 per 100,000 female.
