In 1977 occurred 1,486 suicides in Spain. This year, 12 more people committed suicide than in 1976. In 1977, on average 4 Spaniards committed suicide every day.

Spain had 4.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 12.83 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Spain has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,486 recorded suicide cases in 1977, 1,089 were men suicides and 397 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.1 per 100,000 men and for women 2.1 per 100,000 female.
