In Sierra Leone there were 13.49 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.71 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 946 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 652 were men suicides and 295 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 18.24 per 100,000 men and for women 8.26 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Sierra Leone suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 113 homicides in Sierra Leone, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 8.4 suicides.
