Pakistan - Intentional self-harm

In 2004 occurred 3,452 suicides in Pakistan. This year, 17 fewer people committed suicide than in 2003. In 2004, on average 9 Pakistanis committed suicide every day.

Pakistan had 2.23 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.53 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Pakistan has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 3,452 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 1,940 were men suicides and 1,512 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 2.2 per 100,000 men and for women 1.83 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Pakistan. However, in Pakistan in 2004 there were there were 9,614 homicides, and therefore, number of deaths by murder is far greater than people to take their own lives. There were 2.8 homicides per suicide.
