Of the 768 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 576 were men suicides and 192 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 21.69 per 100,000 men and for women 7.04 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Nicaragua suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 646 homicides in Nicaragua, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.2 suicides.
