In Nicaragua there were 14.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.69 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 759 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 580 were men suicides and 179 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 22.09 per 100,000 men and for women 6.63 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Nicaragua suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 635 homicides in Nicaragua, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.2 suicides.
