Suicides decreased in Nicaragua

In 2002 around 773 suicides occurred in Nicaragua, 11 less than in 2001. On average, there are 2 suicides per day.

Of the 773 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 577 were men suicides and 197 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 22.24 per 100,000 men and for women 7.37 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Nicaragua suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 554 homicides in Nicaragua, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.4 suicides.
