Suicides increase in Iraq

In 2014 occurred 1,034 suicides in Iraq. This year, 69 more people committed suicide than in 2013. On average, there are 3 suicides per day.

Iraq had 2.81 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.71 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Iraq, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 1,034 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 580 were men suicides and 454 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 3.16 per 100,000 men and for women 2.47 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Iraq. However, in Iraq in 2014 there were there were 3,029 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 2.9 homicides per suicide.
