In 2002 occurred 633 suicides in Iraq. This year, 6 fewer people committed suicide than in 2001. In Iraq, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Of the 633 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 374 were men suicides and 259 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 2.86 per 100,000 men and for women 1.97 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Iraq. However, in Iraq in 2002 there were there were 1,267 homicides, and therefore, number of deaths by murder is far greater than people to take their own lives. There were 2 homicides per suicide.
