Hungary has a very high suicide rate

In 2003 around 2,801 suicides occurred in Hungary, 42 less than in 2002. In 2003, on average 8 Hungarians committed suicide every day.

Hungary reported 27.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.69 suicides per 100,000 people.

Hungary has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 2,801 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 2,161 were men suicides and 640 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 44.9 per 100,000 men and for women 12 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Hungary suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 228 homicides in Hungary, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 12.3 suicides.
