In 2003 occurred 5,481 suicides in Democratic Republic of the Congo. This year, 82 more people committed suicide than in 2002. In 2003, on average 15 Congolese committed suicide every day.

Democratic Republic of the Congo had 10.42 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.69 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 5,481 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 3,897 were men suicides and 1,584 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 14.81 per 100,000 men and for women 5.89 per 100,000 female.
