Chile has a low suicide rate

In 1981 occurred 651 suicides in Chile. This year, 111 more people committed suicide than in 1980. In Chile, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Chile had 5.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.3 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Chile has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 651 recorded suicide cases in 1981, 537 were men suicides and 114 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.6 per 100,000 men and for women 2 per 100,000 female.
