Chile has a low suicide rate

In 1976 occurred 587 suicides in Chile. This year, 100 fewer people committed suicide than in 1975. In Chile, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Chile had 5.6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 12.41 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Chile has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 587 recorded suicide cases in 1976, 464 were men suicides and 123 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8.9 per 100,000 men and for women 2.3 per 100,000 female.
