There are 6 suicides per day in Myanmar

In 2014 around 2,224 suicides occurred in Myanmar, 115 more than in 2013. In 2014, on average 6 Burmese committed suicide every day.

Myanmar reported 4.38 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.71 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 2,224 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 1,358 were men suicides and 866 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 5.33 per 100,000 men and for women 3.38 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Myanmar suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,230 homicides in Myanmar, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.8 suicides.
