Suicides increase in Bhutan

In 2014 occurred 90 suicides in Bhutan. This year, 2 more people committed suicide than in 2013.

Bhutan had 12.84 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.71 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 90 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 56 were men suicides and 34 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 14.32 per 100,000 men and for women 9.81 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bhutan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 24 homicides in Bhutan, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.8 suicides.
