Number of suicides increases in Bhutan

In 2015 around 91 suicides occurred in Bhutan, 1 more than in 2014.

Bhutan reported 12.75 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.49 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 91 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 57 were men suicides and 34 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 14.46 per 100,000 men and for women 9.69 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bhutan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 12 homicides in Bhutan, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 7.6 suicides.
