In Austria there were 15.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.96 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 1,267 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 963 were men suicides and 304 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 23.7 per 100,000 men and for women 7.1 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Austria suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 58 homicides in Austria, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 21.8 suicides.
