Austria has a very high suicide rate

In 1983 occurred 2,041 suicides in Austria. This year, 29 fewer people committed suicide than in 1982. In 1983, on average 6 Austrians committed suicide every day.

Austria had 27 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.81 suicides per 100,000 people.

Austria has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 2,041 recorded suicide cases in 1983, 1,430 were men suicides and 611 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 39.9 per 100,000 men and for women 15.4 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
