In 2014 around 4,964 suicides occurred in Angola, 90 more than in 2013. In 2014, on average 14 Angolans committed suicide every day.

Angola reported 19.17 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.71 suicides per 100,000 people.

Angola has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 4,964 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 3,553 were men suicides and 1,411 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 26.55 per 100,000 men and for women 10.26 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Angola suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,217 homicides in Angola, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.1 suicides.
