In 2014 around 1,707 suicides occurred in Afghanistan, 76 more than in 2013. In 2014, on average 5 Afghans committed suicide every day.

Afghanistan reported 6.18 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.71 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,707 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 1,328 were men suicides and 379 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8.03 per 100,000 men and for women 2.35 per 100,000 female.
