The annual variation rate of the CPI in Portugal in May of 2006 was 3.8%, 1 tenth higher than the month before.The monthly variation rate of the CPI (Consumer Price Index) has been 0.4%, and thus the accumulated inflation in 2006 is 2.1%

We must highlight the increase of 1% in the prices of Food and non-alcoholic beverages, until its interannual rate reached 2.6%, which is in contrast to the decrease in the prices of Recreation and culture of -0.3%, and an interannual variation of 1.9%.
