In October, vehicle registrations in Canada fell by 1.14% with respect to October of 1966. In total, 66,680 cars were registered and 828,113 new cars were sold in the last twelve months, 1.16% less than the year before.
The breakdown of car sales figures for the month of October is:
- Commercial vehicles sold: 11,071, 19.91% more than in October of 1966.
- Passenger cars regitrations: 55,609, which represents a figure of 4.47% less than in October of 1966.

With annual sales of 41.11 cars per 1,000 residents, 3.31 of them in the last month, Canada, occupies pole position, which tells us that its population enjoys a high standard of living.
As can be seen, the number of registrations per thousand residents has fallen in the last year. A drop in registrations generally indicates a fall in consumer confidence and, when it is sustained, a recession in the real economy.
