The national minimum wage increase in Philippines

In 2007, the national minimum wage in Philippines remained fixed at €146.3 per month, that is 1,756 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in Philippine Pesos, which is the official currency in Philippines, we can see that, this year, it was 9,442 Philippine Pesos and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 313 Philippine Pesos per month from the previous year, 3.43%. This increase is less than the CPI of 2006 which was 4.1%,and so workers, despite the raise, have lost buying power in the last year.

If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, Philippines is in 42 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 84 of the list.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) of a country is the minimum amount (lowest salary) per hour, per day, or per month that employers may legally pay to workers.
