In 2017, the national minimum wage in Angola remained fixed at €89 per month, that is 1,068 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.
If we look at the minimum salary in Kwanza, which is the official currency in Angola, we can see that, this year, it was 16,503.3 Kwanza and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 1,500.3 Kwanza per month from the previous year, 10%. This increase is less than the CPI of 2016 which was 42%,and so workers, despite the raise, have lost buying power in the last year.
