In 2017 Portugal public debt was 242,620 million euros 274,088 million dollars, has increased 1,7377,455 million since 2016.
This amount means that the debt in 2017 reached 125.7% of Portugal GDP, a 4.2 percentage point fall from 2016, when it was 129.9% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Portugal debt. It has risen since 2007 in global debt terms, when it was 120,089 million euros 164,581 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 68.4%.
According to the last data point published, Portugal per capita debt in 2017 was 23,534 euros26,586 dollars per inhabitant. In 2016 it was 23,365 euros 25,863 dollars, afterwards rising by 169 euros723 dollars, and if we again check 2007 we can see that then the debt per person was 11,379 euros15,595 dollars .
The position of Portugal, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2017 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 178 in the list of debt to GDP and 168 in debt per capita, out of the 185 we publish.
