In 2018 Portugal public debt was 244,906 million euros 289,234 million dollars, has increased 2,10114,937 million since 2017.
This amount means that the debt in 2018 reached 121.5% of Portugal GDP, a 3.3 percentage point fall from 2017, when it was 124.8% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Portugal debt. It has risen since 2008 in global debt terms, when it was 128,191 million euros 188,544 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 71.7%.
According to the last data point published, Portugal per capita debt in 2018 was 23,798 euros28,105 dollars per inhabitant. In 2017 it was 23,594 euros 26,654 dollars, afterwards rising by 204 euros1,451 dollars, and if we again check 2008 we can see that then the debt per person was 12,136 euros17,849 dollars .
The position of Portugal, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2018 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 178 in the list of debt to GDP and 167 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
