In 2019 Portugal public debt was 249,980 million euros 279,853 million dollars, has increased 83714,385 million since 2018.
This amount means that the debt in 2019 reached 117.7% of Portugal GDP, a 4.5 percentage point fall from 2018, when it was 122.2% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Portugal debt. It has risen since 2009 in global debt terms, when it was 154,014 million euros 214,819 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 87.8%.
According to the last data point published, Portugal per capita debt in 2019 was 24,325 euros27,232 dollars per inhabitant. In 2018 it was 24,244 euros 28,632 dollars, afterwards rising by 81 euros1,400 dollars, and if we again check 2009 we can see that then the debt per person was 14,566 euros20,317 dollars .
The position of Portugal, as compared with the rest of the world, has remained in 2019 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 178 in the list of debt to GDP and 168 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
