National debt fell in Portugal

In 2023 Portugal public debt was 263,085 million euros284,474 million dollars, has decreased 9,3422,797 million since 2022.

This amount means that the debt in 2023 reached 99.1% of Portugal GDP, a 13.3 percentage point fall from 2022, when it was 112.4% of GDP.

If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Portugal debt. It has risen since 2013 in global debt terms, when it was 224,078 million euros 297,607 million dollars although it has fallen as a percentage of GDP, when it amounted to 131.4%.

According to the last data point published, Portugal per capita debt in 2023 was 25,134 euros27,177 dollars per inhabitant. In 2022 it was 26,026 euros 27,444 dollars, afterwards dropping by 892 euros 267dollars, and if we again check 2013 we can see that then the debt per person was 21,490 euros28,541 dollars .

The position of Portugal, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2023 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 169 in the list of debt to GDP and 166 in debt per capita, out of the 191 we publish.
