In 2021 Portugal public debt was 269,232 million euros318,916 million dollars, has decreased 1,24910,211 million since 2020.
This amount means that the debt in 2021 reached 127.4% of Portugal GDP, a 7.8 percentage point fall from 2020, when it was 135.2% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Portugal debt. It has risen since 2011 in global debt terms, when it was 201,459 million euros 280,373 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 114.4%.
According to the last data point published, Portugal per capita debt in 2021 was 26,143 euros30,968 dollars per inhabitant. In 2020 it was 26,265 euros 29,976 dollars, afterwards dropping by 122 euros 992dollars, and if we again check 2011 we can see that then the debt per person was 19,109 euros26,595 dollars .
The position of Portugal, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2021 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 175 in the list of debt to GDP and 166 in debt per capita, out of the 190 we publish.
